Q & A: My feet swell, do I need compression stockings?

Comfort Stride Question and answersWith swollen extremities, the usual culprit is fluid retention. In the legs and feet, it can often be due to pooling of the blood vessels which could ultimately contribute to spider veins and/or varicose veins. These are the unsightly blood vessels that could show up in your legs and feet as early as your 20’s. Common reasons are pregnancy, birth control/hormone replacement, genetics, standing or sitting for long periods of time.

We have a variety of brands and styles to choose from that we tailor to your individual needs and activity level. They range from fishnets for a night out on the town to performance sleeves that you might use for sports. The most important thing is to consult your doctor and obtain a prescription from compression therapy.

Our entire staff are trained and licensed compression stocking fitters and have taken courses to ensure proper measurement and therefore fit. The chiropodist is trained to determine if you have circulation issues and conduct an immediate vascular assessment to report to your physician if they require more information.
